The vehicle was in terrible shape, doors didn't close well, the inside panels of the door was loose, the driver window had to be pulled up with two hands because it did not work. The wrong car picked us up, the communication between the drivers and the management is non existent. The rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. Vern scrambled up rocks like it was nothing leaving me feeling like a total klutz, lol. He shared stories, history, and music of his people and the land. Vern is a very interesting guy with a fun sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge. We had the most amazing experience with our guide Vern. We met our guide in the Monument Valley parking lot, hopped in his truck, and took a short 10-15 minute drive up the road to Mystery Valley. Mystery Valley is only accessible accompanied by a Navajo guide. Read moreĭecided to do a half day tour of Mystery Valley because we drove the Monument Valley loop in our truck (which is amazing!). Comparing to the show the other guide gave us in Lower Anthelope Canyon this was just average experience. I can understand that there were only two of us but two people cannot give him a tip in amount he would get if there were 10 people. I didn't like the way he demanded the tip and how he commented the tip he got (that he will buy only breakfast and maybe a small lunch ect.). I didn't like the behavior of the guide - he used to spit in rather disgusting way. The guide gave us ideas how to take good pictures and that was great. When my son said that one of the mountain resembles him a monkey the guide showed some excitement and told us that it is an eagle and explained where are the feathers, beak. We didn't hear much stories except the visit in a village where a lady told us about food, clothes, items used in life and near the petroglyphs in gathering point. ![]() The guide I don't remember his name showed us some places inside the Valley - I don't think we saw any extras.
